A printable Christmas activity to share

Color and build a paper Nativity with eight foldable cards, a shelter backdrop and illustrated assembly instructions. This child-friendly resource is made for parents, teachers and children to use at home, in Sunday school or in a small group.

Download the complete PDF or download the ZIP pack.

What is included?

  • Sheet 1: Mary, Joseph, Jesus in a manger and a shepherd.
  • Sheet 2: an angel, a representative group of wise men, a sheep and a star.
  • Sheet 3: a larger shelter backdrop.
  • Sheet 4: cutting, folding and assembly instructions.

Build the tent cards

  1. Print all pages at the same size on A4. Light card is best.
  2. Color before cutting. An adult can help with scissors.
  3. Cut each solid rectangle, keeping its blank back attached.
  4. Fold the dashed center line with the picture facing outward, then stand the card like an upside-down V.

No glue is needed. These are rectangular tent cards, rather than silhouettes cut around each figure.

Tell the accounts carefully

Read Luke 2:1-20 and Matthew 2:1-12. The display brings figures from both accounts together for storytelling. The wise men visit a house in Matthew; do not describe them as joining the shepherds at the manger. Their number is not given. Three illustrated visitors represent the group. Wings, animals and shelter details are artistic conventions.

Download and print

Choose an individual sheet or the complete 4-page PDF. The ZIP provides the same sheets together; it does not add extra designs. WebP pictures are screen previews. Print the PDFs for clear lines and text.

Use A4 portrait. For US Letter, choose Fit to page and check the preview. Print craft sheets at a consistent size, preferably Actual size on A4, so the cards and backdrop keep their proportions.

You may print copies for your own home, classroom or church group. Please share the article link rather than distributing the files, and do not resell the designs.
